"Nonlinear Characterization
of Carbon Disulfide"
Liquid carbon disulfide was measured to determine accurate values
of its nonlinear index of refraction coefficient across the visible spectrum.
Thin samples of carbon disulfide were characterized at numerous
wavelengths and various pulse widths using the Z-scan technique.
Results show the growth of the effective nonlinear index of refraction
coefficient n2 with increasing laser pulse width duration. We show that
carbon disulfide provides a promising calibration model for nonlinear
characterization by Z-scan techniques at picosecond and femtosecond
pulse widths. ...full text
