CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics, and the Florida Photonics Center of Excellence (FPCE) at the University of Central Florida invite applications for one or more faculty positions in the areas of integrated photonics that include high speed optical processing, nanophotonics integration, and new device technologies. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. in a related area of physics, optics, or engineering with outstanding academic credentials and the potential for highly effective teaching at the graduate level in the area of integrated photonics. A successful candidate is expected to develop a strong extramurally funded research program and collaborative research in related areas of integrated photonics, and participate in curriculum development in the quantum optics area within the College. Candidates are encouraged at all levels. Senior appointments will be considered for applicants with demonstrated scholarship and a strong record of funded research in an academic setting.

The University of Central Florida is a major metropolitan university with 47,000 students. Significant research partnering opportunities exist within CREOL and UCF. Other UCF units relevant to CREOL include a a newly established medical school, a rapidly growing Biomolecular Sciences Center, an Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPAC) with characterization facilities including advanced microscopy, and a Nanoscience and Technology Center. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional vision, energy, and commitment to research development in the quantum optics area, and foster interdisciplinary research and education.

CREOL was established in 1987 as the State University Systems Center of Excellence in research and education in optical sciences and engineering, and became the College of Optics and Photonics in 2004. The FPCE was established as part of the College in 2003 and has received $14.5M from the State for nanophotonics, biophotonics, imaging and display and laser technology in medicine, manufacturing, and defense. The College has 25 academic faculty members and 200 graduate students, and is housed in a state of the art 123,000 sq. ft. building dedicated to optics research and education. The CREOL facility is equipped with over $40 million of state of-the-art-equipment and includes a nanofabrication user facility. Additional information on the College is available at www.creol.ucf.edu.

Review of applications will begin Fall of 2007 and continue until positions are filled. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of research plan, and the names and contact information for three references to:
